I transplanted arugula, kale, and radishes to the cold frame on Thursday March 6th. I left the top cracked open to let air circulate. We had a drenching rain today that kept all of the spring greens perky.
I made myself a pretty big worm bin using a rubbermaid container. I drilled holes in the lid and top half of the sides of the bin. Then, I filled the bottom with shredded newspaper, potting soil, red wigglers, and vegan kitchen scraps.
The worms are doing very well after an initial start of close monitoring and tweaking the moisture level.

I winter sowed poppies, kale, arugula, black eyed susan, and spinach on Feb. 14th.

Major delays all day today on the New York Subway due to track flooding.
I never noticed it before, but Daley Plaza has all of the elements of good public space:
-Water that can be played with
-Movable chairs
-Both Shade and Sun
-Lots of benches and choices for sitting
-Picnic tables
-Food vending nearby
-Public art (ahem, the Picasso sculpture)
-Street activity
